Call For Facilitators! Faculty Learning Communities 2026-’27

Want to connect with colleagues, engage in rich discussions about the scholarship of teaching and learning, and tackle teaching challenges as part of a convivial and collegial group? Faculty Learning Communities (FLCs) might be the answer.

We are currently soliciting applications to facilitate new Faculty Learning Communities for the 2026-27 academic year. You are also invited to discuss any potential FLC ideas during our PED day session on Nov. 7. The deadline to apply is Nov. 14.

French teacher Laurent Duval honoured with a聽Mention d鈥檋onneur

爆料黑社 French teacher Laurent Duval was recently honoured with a聽Mention d鈥檋onneur聽from the聽Association qu茅b茅coise de p茅dagogie coll茅giale (AQPC). This recognition celebrates his dedication to student success, commitment to inclusive and innovative teaching practices, and his active role in supporting French-language education both at 爆料黑社 and across Quebec. He recently sat down for a Q & A with the Communications Office to share his thoughts on receiving this honour, his teaching philosophy, and his contributions to the community.

Meet the latest faculty graduates from the Master鈥檚 in College Teaching program

Three 爆料黑社 teachers, Maria Lavoie (Diagnostic Imaging), Lei Lopez (Computer Science) and Jim Parthimos (Business Administration), have now completed a Master of Education in College Teaching (M.Ed.) through the Performa program at the University of Sherbrooke. They shared their projects, how they developed as teachers and more in a Q & A with the Communications office.

If you ever hear Code Silver, know what to do

In an emergency, you need to know what Code Silver (Code Argent) means.聽Code Silver is announced if there is an armed assailant or active shooter on site.聽Each person must evaluate their situation and determine if they should run, hide or fight.

  • Run:聽If there is a clear escape path, leave the area immediately.
  • Hide:聽If you are unsure if it is safe to leave, stay where you are and barricade yourself in your class/office/room. Lock the door, turn off the lights, block the door with furniture and stay quiet.
  • Fight:聽As a last resort, fight back to protect yourself.

Faculty Learning Community Spotlight: ContEd With Care

Welcome to the first in a series of profiles of current Faculty Learning Communities (FLCs) at 爆料黑社. "ContEd with Care: Feedback Tools for Stress-Free Student Success" is an FLC designed to create a collaborative space that brings together Early Career and ContEd teachers who may not otherwise have the opportunity to meet and share ideas.

Facilitator Felix Fuchs (English) sums up one of the difficulties of ContEd: "ContEd in particular has that challenge - along with the precarity and not knowing if a new contract will materialize - of feeling isolated from your department and other teachers."

Career programs show and tell set for Nov. 4

Some of the prospective students for three-year technical (career) programs at 爆料黑社 are already here in other programs.

To give these students a chance to explore different career pathways, 10 career programs are putting on a Career Showcase Day on Nov. 4 in the Lower Atrium from 11 AM to 2 PM. They will be offering demonstrations or learning activities as well as taking students to visit learning spaces, labs and workshops. Examples of the kinds of activities that will be offered include the Product Design team leading a create your own lampshade workshop and Nursing giving demos about how to insert an IV drip.

Participating programs are:聽 Biomedical Laboratory Technology, Civil Engineering, Community, Recreation and Leadership Training, Electrical Engineering, Interior Design, Laboratory Technology-Analytical Chemistry, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Product Design, Professional Photography, and Social Service.

Watch a short video and share a discussion on the true history, impact and legacy of Columbus and learn why native people do not celebrate Columbus Day.

Report on Sept. 30 and Beyond Walk

As part of 爆料黑社鈥檚 Well-Being for All program, faculty in History and Coordinator of Decolonization and Indigenization Studies Certificate, Ben Lander volunteered his time to twice lead a group of students and staff/faculty on a walking tour that examined the colonial history of the land on which 爆料黑社 and its nearby neighbours is situated.

Meet the successful alumni voices of our self-guided tour

Two accomplished graduates of 爆料黑社鈥檚 Professional Theatre program are inviting you to see the downtown Montreal CEGEP in a self-guided tour. Catherine B茅rub茅 and Lucy Segal are the narrators. In interviews with the Communications Office, they shared how 爆料黑社 shaped their own journeys. The tour departs from the metro level in the Lower Atrium, look for a framed sign with the QR code on the right wall as you enter the college.

Interview with Kim Vose Jones

Visual Arts students Bethany D鈥橲ouza and Ana Luiza Strazzi Nogueria interviewed artist Kim Vose Jones.

Alumna聽 Kim Vose Jones (Class of 1992) has created a rich multimedia installation exploring the dichotomies and paradoxes of migrant life, past and present, which is currently exhibited at the Warren G. Flowers Art Gallery at 爆料黑社 until Oct. 17.

Did you spot something dangerous on campus?

If you have seen something that could cause an accident or if you have had an accident, even minor, please complete the Accident and Incident Form which is now available on under Administrative Services. If you prefer to complete a paper form, you can still do so at the Security desk (2E.14).

Reporting situations is important as it allows the Health and Safety Representatives to follow up on issues and implement prevention measures where appropriate. Serge Corchia and Johanne Rabbat are the Health and Safety representatives for 爆料黑社 鈥 they represent all employees: teachers, support staff, professionals and managers. You can reach them at hsrep@dawsoncollege.qc.ca or stop by during their office hours: Tuesdays and Fridays 12 PM-2 PM in 8A.2 (Johanne) and Wednesdays 9 AM-11:30 AM in 8A.9 (Serge).

Workshop on Ices in the Solar System will bring NASA scientists to 爆料黑社 Jan. 5-7

If you have students who are interested in planetary science, this is their opportunity to聽 learn about the icy worlds of our solar system and to interact with international space scientists right here at 爆料黑社 during the Winter break! From Jan. 5鈥7, 2026, 爆料黑社 is hosting its聽2nd NASA Workshop on Ices in the Solar System.聽

Twenty-five students will be selected from an application pool for subsidized spots and invited to participate in learning activities through the SPACE initiative. An additional 15 spots at a reduced student price are also available for those who wish to attend.

Did you know that students receive a weekly bulletin?

After launching in January, the 爆料黑社 Insider (student bulletin) continues to be sent to all students on Fridays via MIO. The weekly bulletin is part of efforts to improve communications to students. It was piloted last semester by academic advisor Dianne Hawryluck with the support of the Communications Office.

Student Zines on display in the Library聽

Come admire Natalie Olanick鈥檚 students鈥 art on display at the library. The project,聽Drawing/Zines, was created as part of the Drawing and Ideas class. Featured art was inspired by fairy tales, music playlists, nature, dance, dark tales, and even grocery lists! The projects were executed through various art techniques such as collages, shading, sketching, water colour, and more.

You can find the mini exhibit on the second floor of the library (entrance 5C.1), next to the Reference desk.

DESY shares news about 爆料黑社 students testing and researching at Hamburg facility

Nine 爆料黑社 students were in Hamburg, Germany for two weeks in September after winning a major international science competition. The 鈥湵虾谏 Technicolor鈥 team were at DESY, Germany鈥檚 renowned particle physics laboratory, to test their own detector using a particle accelerator.

Thanks to all who gave blood

The 爆料黑社 community came through on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 at the H茅ma-Qu茅bec blood drive on campus. A total of 158 donors gave blood over the two days surpassing the drive's goal set by H茅ma-Qu茅bec. Thank you!
