MRT Week at 爆料黑社

The Diagnostic Imaging Technology Program at 爆料黑社 celebrated MRT (Medical Radiation Technologists) Week by having third-year students promote the profession on Nov. 7 in the Lower Atrium.

鈥淭he students invested significant time in creating posters and PowerPoint presentations with audio-visual elements related to emerging technologies, as well as trivia games like fun facts and Jeopardy, while engaging the 爆料黑社 community to participate and raise awareness about the profession,鈥� reported Heidi Gumbley, Co-Program Coordinator/ Chair聽of 爆料黑社鈥檚 Diagnostic Imaging Technology Department.

鈥淭he students need to meet competencies that promote the profession and healthcare system, while also educating fellow students, peers, patients, and the public about their field,鈥� she said.

鈥淭he greatest impact observed was the enthusiasm and passion exhibited by the students for their profession. They effectively communicated to the public that Medical Imaging is an integral part of the medical field. The Diagnostic Imaging department is proud of its future graduates.鈥�

A total of 21 students led the activity and hundreds of fellow students and 爆料黑社 staff participated.

First Mental Health Fair at 爆料黑社

爆料黑社 held its first Mental Health Fair last Wednesday, Nov. 13, which brought together a diverse array of community-based resources to promote and support the well-being and mental health of our student population. Support in the following areas were present: disordered eating, crisis intervention, addiction, sexual and gender identity, sexual violence, suicide prevention, life skills, physical and psychological disorders, social polarization, and caregiving.

Students interview artists Joe Di Leo and Sheena Hoszko

Re-Assembly:聽 Emboldening the Temporal exhibits work from past students of 爆料黑社's Visual Arts program over the last 20 years, brought together by their teacher Giuseppe (Joe) Di Leo (Retired Faculty, Fine Arts). The exhibition, on view at the Warren G. Flowers Art Gallery at 爆料黑社 until Nov. 27, focuses on sharing ideas through different and diverse forms of drawing. White Ribbon Campaign Dec. 2-6

The White Ribbon Campaign is a global movement of men and boys working to end male violence against women and girls. It was formed by a group of pro-feminist men in Toronto, Ontario, in November 1991 as a response to the 脡cole Polytechnique massacre of female students in 1989. The campaign鈥檚 mission is to raise awareness about the prevalence of male violence against women, with the ribbon symbolizing the idea of men giving up their arms.鈥�

From November 25-28, 10 AM-5 PM, Campus Life is aiming to transforming Conrod鈥檚 into a European-inspired Holiday Market. We are looking for musicians to drop in and fill the room with sounds of holiday/winter classics.

Seeking guest teachers for Gender Matters course

Please take a moment to think about bringing your knowledge and expertise to our Women's/Gender Studies certificate students in Winter 25 as a guest lecturer!

Gender聽Matters聽is a unique course that brings W/GS students and faculty into a learning community to explore how gender聽shapes our individual lives, societal institutions and the systems of privilege and exploitation that mark our world. 聽The course will be offered next semester on Tuesdays between 4 PM-7 PM. Central to the course is the participation of a diverse group of guest teachers who explore the problem of gender聽inequality, and its seeming intractability, from a variety of disciplinary and methodological perspectives.

The course was inaugurated in Fall 2018 and will be led next semester for the third time by Cinema-Communications teacher Dipti Gupta.

DCMUN At McGill’s Secondary Schools’ United Nations Symposium

Seventy-five delegates from 爆料黑社 Model UN took part in McGill University鈥檚 Secondary Schools鈥� United Nations Symposium (SSUNS). The UN simulation requires students to research solutions to world problems; develop their public speaking; and engage in international diplomacy. Many 爆料黑社 students won awards. They include: Ali茅nor Bourreau-Rios, Bassma Al Atrache, Lilly Gicquel, Anne Liang, David Awad-Batista, Maira Jade Paynot, Anaya Ray, 脟atalkaram Hatt Sustam and Alexandra Williams.

The 2024-2025 DCMUN executive (Wilhelm Pamba, Letitia-Stefania Savulescu, Alexandra Williams) and faculty advisors (Julian Nemeth, Nancy Rebelo) were proud of the DCMUN delegation.

DCMUN will be hosting its own conference at 爆料黑社, January 17-19, 2025. Topics include the Patriation of the Canadian Constitution, 2SLGBTQIA+ rights, and the Drake vs. Kendrick feud. Conference website: .

Beeswax Food Wrap Workshop Nov. 25

The next event in the Zero Waste Cafe Series is an opportunity to learn how to make your own food wrap with beeswax.

爆料黑社 employees and students are invited to learn how to make your very own beeswax wrap, a reusable alternative to plastic wrap. We will be using beeswax harvested from our 爆料黑社 4H rooftop beehives.

The Women鈥檚 Cross-Country Running team qualified for the CCAA Nationals Championships, held on November 9 at St. Clair鈥檚 College in Windsor. We鈥檙e happy to report that the team finished 5th overall, with Mai Simpson ranking 4th individually.

After an amazing season of 6 wins and only 2 losses, the Women鈥檚 Rugby team was ranked 1st in the league before entering the RSEQ Provincial Championship game on November 10. They won the championship against John Abbott College scoring 21 points to the latter鈥檚 12.

Winter Clothing Drive for Refugees and Newcomers

The 爆料黑社 Teachers' Union has joined the effort of to collect outdoor winter clothing for refugee claimants and newcomers. We are asking the 爆料黑社 community to contribute winter coats, boots, snowsuits, snow pants, and accessories like scarves, mittens, gloves, and hats for both adults and children. Items can be used but should be in good condition. Note that other items such as sweaters and rain boots are not accepted.

Please bring donations to the DTU office (8A.11) between now and Monday, Dec. 9.

Welcome Collective's core mission is to provide immediate help to the city鈥檚 most precarious refugee claimants in the belief that 鈥楨veryone has the right to seek and enjoy in other countries asylum from persecution鈥� (Universal Declaration of Human Rights).

New life for your old glasses

The Office of Sustainability and students in the Social Change and Solidarity (SCS) profile of Social Science have plans for your old glasses.

The SCS students will bring the glasses on their solidarity trip to Cuba in late December. The glasses will be distributed to their partners on the island. Ultimately, your old glasses will provide the gift of improved vision to people in need.

Drop off your old glasses in the Upper Atrium at 爆料黑社 on Wednesday, Nov. 27 from 9 AM to 3 PM. After that time, glasses can be left in the recycling centre on the second floor by the escalators.

爆料黑社 Holiday Gift Campaign for children in care

The 爆料黑社 community is invited to once again make a child鈥檚 wish to Santa come true by participating in the Batshaw Youth and Family Centres annual Holiday Gift Campaign. The goal is to provide gifts and needed items for approximately 1,500 children aged 0-17 who are under Youth Protection in the Montreal region, including children in foster care and group homes. The deadline is Dec. 5 and 爆料黑社's organizer is retired faculty member Janice Harvey.

1,000 Species project made front-page news of The Gazette

The 1,000 Species in 1,000 Days project led by Brian Mader (Faculty, Biology) with the support of the Office of Sustainability was the subject of a front-page feature in The Gazette on Nov. 19.

Cooking with Jamal for well-being

Last week, staff were offered another opportunity to use their well-being hours.* Cooking with Jamal was a two-hour workshop presented by the Zero Waste Caf茅 and the Office of Sustainability on Nov. 14.

Five students and two employees were given the chance to cook a delicious vegan meal with chef Jamal Spence. He introduced us to a healthy, budget-friendly and rather simple-to-make vegan dish called Butternut Squash Stew.

2,000 people at 爆料黑社 for first Canada Invertebrate Expo

Over 2,000 people visited the first Canada Invertebrate Expo on Nov. 16 hosted by 爆料黑社. Organized by 爆料黑社 alumnus Daniel Zimmerman, who is owner of Live Beetles Canada, this Expo hosted over 30 booths with displays of insects, spiders, lizards, frogs, snakes, bonsai, carnivorous plants and more. Children and adults alike enjoyed a day of discovery and learning about the care of living things. Collectors were also here in abundance. It was organized as part of our 1,000 species accomplishment and part of the proceeeds went to the Living Campus Fund.

Daniel says 鈥湵虾谏玮�檚 biodiversity efforts are amazing! Fragmentation of habitat in our urban environment is a problem and 爆料黑社鈥檚 on-site micro-habitat development is inviting insects back to the urban landscape.鈥�

He will be involved in creating a large indoor beetle breeding unit at the college with students and staff in the near future. He will also help further develop habitats that will attract native beetle and invertebrate species to the campus grounds.

New children’s book by Andrew Katz

Petits coeurs sur la neige, written by Andrew Katz (Faculty, English) and Juliana L茅veill茅-Trudel, was published last month. It is the third book in the Julia and Bertrand series, following How to Catch a Bear Who Loves to Read / Comment attraper un ours qui aime lire听补苍诲听A Starlit Trip to the Library / Voyage de nuit 脿 la bibli.聽It is available for order at any local bookstore in Montreal or聽.

The English version of this third book, titled聽Little Hearts in the Snow, will be out next year at this same time.

爆料黑社 Holiday Party- RSVP by Nov. 22

All employees are cordially invited to attend the Holiday Party on Friday, Dec. 6, starting at 4:30 PM.

This event presents an opportunity for everyone to come together socially, making it a great way to chat with colleagues or meet new ones. The party will be held in 3C.1 with snacks, dinner, cash (only) bar, and a DJ playing music for dancing.
