Five more days to show support for 爆料黑社 students

The impact of the cancellation of 爆料黑社鈥檚 pavilion project does not only affect 爆料黑社 students, but the whole Montreal community and all English-language institutions in Quebec. We need your help to gather as much support for 爆料黑社 as possible in the next five days!

Please share this message with your friends, family and network of contacts.

The 爆料黑社 community has rallied around 爆料黑社 following Premier Fran莽ois Legault's decision to cancel the pavilion project, take away space from our students and future students and shelve a downtown community clinic.

It is thanks to you that our petition is #1 on the National Assembly petition platform.聽In one week, an impressive 10,000 signatures of support for 爆料黑社 were collected. However, we need your help to get as many Quebecers as possible to sign before our MNA Jennifer Maccarone presents the petition with the 爆料黑社 Student Union to the National Assembly on March 17.

The deadline to聽聽is March 15. Here's how you can help:

  • Ask your friends, family, neighbours and contacts to sign it. Explain that they need to fill out the form and then confirm their signature by clicking a link in their email. A direct request one-on-one is probably more effective than sharing on social media.
  • Send a request by email with the to your friends and ask them to sign it.
  • Ask your colleagues and neighbours if they have signed it yet.
  • Write to your Member of the National Assembly, template letters and resources are here:聽/蝉耻辫辫辞谤迟-诲补飞蝉辞苍/听
  • If you are a teacher, take two minutes of class time to explain the situation and invite your students to take a moment to sign it. It is for their future!

At the end of February, the Communications Office in collaboration with faculty across several programs reached out to dozens of graduates and asked them to tell us about how 爆料黑社 contributed to their success and also how they are contributing to Quebec society.

Petition launch at 爆料黑社

爆料黑社 held a press conference on Feb. 24 to launch a in favour of maintaining the pavilion project. The Leader of Quebec's Opposition, Dominique Anglade, as well as local MNAs Jennifer Maccarone, who is sponsoring the petition, and David Birnbaum were on site to show their support, pictured speaking to students.

Christine Lister named manager of new AccessAbility team

爆料黑社 has been experiencing a period of unprecedented staff renewal over the past two years, with change happening in many areas including the Academic sector and Student Services.

The Student AccessAbility Centre is one such service, with an almost entirely new team of support staff, professionals and managers. The latest change to the roster is the addition of long-standing 爆料黑社 employee Christine Lister as Manager of the Centre, which she now supervises along with the Coordinator of Student Services.

Petition to add Social Service to Bourses Perspective program

The Quebec Government has launched a new program called which are incentive scholarships for Qu茅bec students who are enrolled full-time in various programs at Qu茅bec CEGEPs, private colleges and universities. It is intended to increase the number of qualified individuals in the fields prioritized by the government due to a labour shortage in essential public services as well as in strategic economic sectors.

You have three more days to add your name to a petition calling on the government to add the Social Service Program.

History teacher Emmanuelle Simony has passed away

Emmanuelle Simony was laid to rest this past weekend. Her passing has brought out an outpouring of tributes to her character, her humour, her strength and courage, and her work as a faculty member and colleague in the History/Classics department. They can be viewed on the .

Michael Duckett has written a beautiful homage to the spirit of a remarkable woman.

The Cripple of Inishmaan

The second-year students of 爆料黑社's Professional Theatre Department have been busy rehearsing for The Cripple of Inishmaan by Martin McDonagh, opening March 9.

滨苍颈蝉丑尘补补苍,听directed by Matt Enos, is a dark comedy about a small Irish town, pulled out of their daily routine when a Hollywood director comes to film a documentary.

滨苍颈蝉丑尘补补苍听plays March 9 - 12, at 8 pm. Proof of vaccination is required, and masks must be worn at all times. The show is free.

The Awards Office is now accepting nominations for the following awards:

The Bruno Mital 鈥楤鈥� Positive Scholarship 鈥� 1 recipient of $ 1,000

This scholarship is named after Bruno Mital who was a graduate of the CRLT program at 爆料黑社 and chairperson of the 爆料黑社 Board of Governor鈥檚 for two years. It is designed to recognize a graduating student who has gone above and beyond to help their community, their fellow students, or the 爆料黑社 community, without seeking recognition.

The Paul Gallagher Award 鈥� 3 recipients of $500

This award, named after 爆料黑社鈥檚 first Director General, is given to up to three graduating students in recognition of their significant contribution to student life. The most important criteria are leadership, contribution to College life, and participation in student government, sports, or other college activities.

Difficult Conversations:聽 Minimizing Harm/Creating Accountability 鈥� Attend this March 11th virtual workshop from the 爆料黑社 Creative Collective for Change

Unjust power structures can be challenged or reproduced in the classroom. Harms can be done, traumas triggered, mistakes made, shame inflicted and apologies given. The goal of this workshop is to work through the complexities present when an educator stumbles into the polarizing social issues of today. By exploring some cases of "cancel culture" in institutions of higher education and beyond, we are prompted to ask: are there distinctions to be made between giving offense and doing harm? Do good intentions matter? Can a defense grounded in the right to academic freedom seem dismissive? Is there room for mistakes and forgiveness?

Women’s Day at 爆料黑社

The 爆料黑社 Support Staff Union, the Association of 爆料黑社 Professionals and the 爆料黑社 Teachers Union co-hosted a Women's Day event in the Rose Lounge on March 8 featuring a book sale with proceeds to benefit Chez Doris. About 100 people dropped in and $450 was raised. Faculty, staff and students involved in Women's and Gender Studies also put on an event in Conrod's with a bake sale to benefit the Financial Aid Food Bank and activities, such as inviting the community to rename stops in Montreal's metro system. Colleagues enjoyed being together again and celebrating women.

Get together with the Director General and Academic Dean

Over 60 employees stopped by 5B.16 or came to an online session with Director General Diane Gauvin and Academic Dean Rob Cassidy on March 9.

The event was to give employees an update about what has been happening at 爆料黑社 lately, especially in regards to the pavilion project and the There was a Q and A session as well.
