SPACE students mastering physics by designing video game

Students interview multidisciplinary artist Craig Commanda

Craig Commanda is a multidisciplinary artist from the Algonquin nation at Kitigan Zibi. His current exhibition, W脤DJIDEYAMAWOWIN / INTERCONNECTION, features prints, videos, and complex sculptural beadwork at the Warren G. Flowers Art Gallery until March 16. On a recent Friday afternoon, two visual arts students, Katya Kieran & Lisseth Llorente Ruiz, had the chance to ask Craig a few questions about his artistic practice and this exhibition.

Change at the helm of the 爆料黑社 Foundation

Earlier in February, Steve Hatajlo (Class of 1981, Computer Science) handed over the presidency of the 爆料黑社 Foundation to Sean Smith (Class of 2001, Pure and Applied Science). Steve has served as a volunteer on both the 爆料黑社 Foundation Board of Directors and 爆料黑社鈥檚 Board of Governors for many years. He remains a member of both boards.

More space for Nursing at the Forum

爆料黑社鈥檚 Nursing department has moved into a new home across the street from the main campus on the second floor of the Forum. They join Physiotherapy Technology and Medical Ultrasound Technology, which are also housed at the Forum.

爆料黑社 2024-2029 Strategic Plan prioritizes student development through the lens of well-being

Over the next five years, 爆料黑社 will deliver on its academic mission led by the overarching value of Well-being for All, which emphasizes the cultivation of a stimulating, inclusive and caring environment for learning and working.聽 Other core values of the plan include Student Achievement, Institutional Excellence, Collaboration, and Innovation and Creativity.
In its newly released 2024-2029 Strategic Plan, the College鈥檚 strategic goal setting is guided by the interrelationship between students, communities both internal and external to the College, and the environment. Emphasis will be placed on supporting students to develop as a whole person: to lead meaningful lives and take on rewarding work while considering the impact on others and the planet, all while prioritizing their own physical and mental health.

Costa Rica course: an encounter with Nature and life-changing experience

Twenty-four 爆料黑社 students travelled to Costa Rica on Dec. 30 to take a complementary course entitled Ecology & Culture. Accompanied by biology teachers Brian Mader and Tonia De Bellis, the students explored several different ecosystems, including the rare and threatened tropical dry forest.
鈥淭his experience will be with these students for the rest of their lives,鈥 Brian said in an interview with 爆料黑社鈥檚 Communications Office after he returned Jan. 13. He added that each student has a different answer about what they appreciated best.

Street art mural created by students brightens up hallway

Twenty-four students took part in a street art mural project in December at 爆料黑社. Their work has added colour, beauty and a youthful feel to the 2C hallway, the location of student clubs and close to common spaces of the college.
This art project was fully funded by , a nongovernmental organization based in Montreal that works to advance human rights in Canada and around the world. The project was overseen by , which has a mission to beautify the city of Montreal by creating murals.

Be inspired by the journeys of our first four Perseverance Award recipients

Noella Dorothy Beersa (Liberal Arts), Wynter Bryant (Arts and Culture), El茅onore Martin-Menga (AEC in Commercial Photography) and Judy Phuong Trinh Le (Pure & Applied Science) are the first four recipients of the new 爆料黑社 Perseverance Award.
This award is funded through the Student Academic Enrichment Fund and is intended to encourage 爆料黑社 students from all programs and sectors to continue in their studies.
