ChatGPT and student intern talks featured at DawsCon

Students were given the opportunity to push ChatGPT to its limits in an AI jailbreak competition on March 24 and ChatGPT was also the focus of a popular workshop led by Robert Stephens Notably, DawsCon was designed to be a truly student-centered event with more than 30 students presenting work in progress on projects related to a wide range of AI topics in conjunction with internships being undertaken with the Applied AI Institute. Next year, organizers 爆料黑社AI and the Computer Science Department plan even more student presentations for what is hoped will be an annual event.

Sustainable Happiness in Mexico

Jennifer de Vera and Chris Adam of the Sustainability Office were in Mexico in late March to see the final projects of students in the 爆料黑社-developed Sustainable Happiness Course at Preparatoria Comunitaria Tres Mar铆as, a senior high school located in the mountains near the city of Cuernavaca. Jenn and Chris were also on hand to give the students their SH certificates at the school's 25th anniversary.

Many students gave things away as part of their SH final project, Jenn said. Noteworthy projects included a grandfather-granddaughter intergenerational gardening project with a garden herb give-away, a succulent plant give-away with pots that were painted with positive quotes, and a mushroom identification project on campus. "They use what they have and the resources of the land," Jenn said. She came home inspired by the Mexicans' warmth and authentic community and reported that the Mexican partners are eager to continue their projects and their partnership with 爆料黑社.

Interview with screenwriter & 爆料黑社 grad Ryan Christopher Churchill

Ryan Christopher Churchill (Creative Arts, 1999) is the screenwriter of Simulant, a science fiction thriller that will be released in Canada on April 7.

Simulant tells the story of a humanoid A.I.'s attempt to win over a widow's heart, which places it in the path of a government agent trying to stop the rise of machine consciousness. The film stars some of the most popular actors right now: Simu Liu, Sam Worthington, Jordana Brewster and Robbie Amell.聽The trailer can be viewed .

Literary duo Arizona and Heather O鈥橬eill share thoughts on 爆料黑社 experience

Ahead of their guest appearance at a 爆料黑社 Reads event on March 22, Arizona O鈥橬eill (Fine Arts, 2013) and Heather O鈥橬eill (Social Science, 1992) shared some thoughts on their 爆料黑社 experiences, the creative process and writing. 5th annual SPACE writing competition: winners and honourable mentions

In 2022-2023, SPACE held its fifth annual writing competition. Students from all disciplines across 爆料黑社 were invited to submit writing that offered a personal interpretation of this year鈥檚 theme,聽?听The submissions were divided into three categories鈥撯損rose (fiction and creative non-fiction), poetry and essay鈥撯揳nd were judged in a blind fashion by Lois Valliant (retired Faculty, Fine Arts) and Hannah Rahimi (Faculty, English).

Entries were evaluated according to originality and depth of thought, style, arts-sciences connections and relation to the theme. The winners received gift certificates from Argo Bookstore, and the winners and honourable mentions have been published and highlighted in the SPACE web magazine.

Stay tuned as well for the announcement of a public reading by the winners and honourable mentions during the first week of May for SPACE Week.

Four 爆料黑社 students presented abstract at Lunar and Planetary Science conference

When it was time to submit an abstract to the Lunar and Planetary Science Conference in Texas, the 爆料黑社 student team was not sure which category described them best.

鈥淚 think we are the first CEGEP students to present research at the LPI! Undergraduate was the category closest to us,鈥 said Darcy Loane-Billings (Pure & Applied Science), lead author of the abstract and second-year student at 爆料黑社.
