Until May 11, the third-year graduating students of the Professional Theatre program will present an adaptation of Lysistrata. In this ancient Greek comedy, the women on both sides of a war band together and withhold sex until their husbands agree to peace.
Playwright Ellen McLaughlin has updated the script for the 爆料黑社 production, as we perform in the wake of the ongoing crisis in Ukraine and the Middle East. All shows are $5 for 爆料黑社 faculty, students and staff.

IVGD Vernissage & Free Video Game Playtest Event

The Independent Video Game Design program is hosting its annual vernissage event, showcasing games created by our graduating class of 2024!
Eight teams of graduates have spent the last year building original games with the guidance and mentorship of IVGD faculty, and we are proud to show their games to the public for the first time. The event will also include a number of local independent video game studios and developers showcasing their latest games currently in development!
Join us Wednesday, June 12 from 6 PM-10 PM in room 3C.1 to playtest the games, meet the developers and enjoy a few snacks while supporting the IVGD program and the local independent game development community.

Grads & retirees join students & faculty for New School’s 50th

More than 125 alumni, faculty, both active and retired, as well as current students came together on April 13 to celebrate 50 years of New School at 爆料黑社.
One of the founders, Greta Hofmann Nemiroff, gave the keynote address and many people shared "Because of New School" impacts on their life, such as:
"I learned that I had a voice and it mattered what I said."
"I made friendships that have lasted for decades."
"I learned how to have productive conversations on difficult subjects while staying respectful..."
"I am still alive!!!!"

鈥淚nspiring woman in aerospace鈥� is 爆料黑社 grad

Valentina Falci (Class of 2012, Interior Design) was featured last month as part of a series on 鈥渋nspiring women in aerospace.鈥�
Since 2017, Valentina has worked as an aircraft interior designer for Bombardier, a world leading manufacturer of business jets in Montreal. Prior to working there, she held other interior design jobs after graduating from 爆料黑社鈥檚 three-year Interior Design program.
What does Valentina like best about her job? As a designer, she enjoys seeing creative ideas come to life, collaborating with clients or their team. Valentina鈥檚 job entails creating the interiors of Bombardier鈥檚 renowned business jets of the Challenger and Global families.
Interior Design Program Coordinator Kurt Holfeld is very proud of 爆料黑社鈥檚 graduates and of Valentina: 鈥淐ongratulations to Valentina on this recognition. This honour is no surprise given the dedication that she showed during her studies at 爆料黑社. Our grads continue to make us proud across many industries, including aerospace!鈥�

爆料黑社 Theatre grad featured in CTV report

爆料黑社 graduate V茅ronique Pierre was featured in a report by CTV Montreal last month. V茅ronique (Class of 1997, Professional Theatre) had been working as a yoga instructor after being disappointed by a lack of work in the entertainment industry.
During the pandemic, V茅ronique decided to pursue an acting career again with her friend鈥檚 encouragement. She is now quite busy and even considering writing and producing.
鈥淚 remember V茅ro well, great student, excellent actress,鈥� said Kimberley Barfuss, Co-Chair of the Professional Theatre Program at 爆料黑社.

Change at the helm of the 爆料黑社 Foundation

Earlier in February, Steve Hatajlo (Class of 1981, Computer Science) handed over the presidency of the 爆料黑社 Foundation to Sean Smith (Class of 2001, Pure and Applied Science). Steve has served as a volunteer on both the 爆料黑社 Foundation Board of Directors and 爆料黑社鈥檚 Board of Governors for many years. He remains a member of both boards.

爆料黑社 grad wins major bursary

In October, Blain Haile (爆料黑社 Class of 2023- Social Science (Law, Society and Justice) won a $5,000 TELUS Student Bursary.
Blain is pursuing a Bachelor of Civil Law and a Juris Doctor with a minor in Gender, Sexuality, Feminist, & Social Justice Studies.

爆料黑社 grad and student are finalists for College Writers Award

Charles Brisson (third-year student in 3D Animation and Computer Generated Imagery) and Nemesis Jarry (Class of 2023- Arts, Literature and Communication 鈥� Literature) are two of three finalists for the Quebec Writers Federation College Writers Award.
The winner will be announced at a gala on Nov. 13.
