Growing up, it often felt like school didn’t have space for someone like me. I was often left wondering whether I was truly cut out for the sciences鈥攊f a brain wired for stories, movement, and feeling, one fine-tuned to creation, could really thrive in a world where success felt so formulaic. But I’ve learned that resilience isn’t about forcing yourself to fit a mold; it’s about recognizing your strengths and working with them. I’m honoured to receive the Anastasia De Sousa Memorial Award for what it represents, for neurodivergent people like me. If a place doesn’t seem to have space for you, make your own. This award will also help support me financially as I begin veterinary medicine this fall.
